Weekend Hikes
If you have questions about a specific hike, please phone the hike leader or call the Hiking Co-ordinator Rick Gee at 250-763-0124.
THESE HIKES ARE RATED;
Easy = 2 to 4 hours, slow pace.
Intermediate + 4 - 6 hours, medium difficulty and pace.
Advanced + 6 - 8 hours, steeper, faster pace.
A (+) after the rating indicates a little more challenging, but not to the level of the next higher rating.
Car Pooling
Car pooling is encouraged, because we sometimes must negotiate bad roads, or arrive at places with limited parking, and for general conservation reasons. Car pooling rate is eleven cents (11¢) per kilometre per passenger being paid to the driver. There is a $2 minimum charge per person.
Hikes usually involve some bushwhacking and/or off-trail sections. Bring good waterproofed hiking boots, and be dressed appropriately for the weather and with regard to the expected terrain conditions.
Bring a waterproof day pack with plenty of drinking water, lunch, rain gear, first aid equipment, and whistle. Remember your carpool money.
If you have questions about a specific hike, please phone the hike leader or call the Hiking Co-ordinator (Rick Gee at 250-763-0124). Note that hike destinations may change with little notice, so if you are hoping to be picked up somewhere other than the Parkinson Recreation Centre, you must contact the hike leader beforehand. In particular, if you are hoping to be picked up on the Westside, you must contact the leader at least a day in advance.
