Committee meetings

The Conservation Committee meets on the first Monday of each month February to December, except in the months of July and August.

The meetings will take place in the EECO Centre at 10:00 a.m.    Members will continue to meet informally on a ‘drop in’ basis and are welcome to attend a meeting whenever they are able to.

The primary functions of the CONC Conservation committee are:

 

-  to keep members informed about local environment issues;

 

-  to advocate for the environment to municipal authorities;

 

-  and aid in mobilizing our resources when action is deemed necessary.   

 

Botany

The CONC Botanist Group will view the natural areas on the golf, and inventory the wildflowers and other plants throughout each season.

17 volunteers attended the bird count on November 29, 2008 at the golf course.

17 species for a total of 135 birds were counted in one hour.  These included the bufflehead, mallards, pygmy nuthatches, song sparrow, California quail, black capped chickadees, dark-eyed juncos, brown creepers, magpies, immature bald eagle, red tail hawk, ring-necked duck, mountain chickadee, house finches, northern flicker, crow and a swan (pinioned).
